Wisconsin Governor Vetoes Transgender High School Athletics Ban

 April 3, 2024

Republicans in Wisconsin had recently set forth a rule that prevented boys who were born as males from competing against females in high school athletics.

Wisconsin Gov.Tony Evers did not agree with the decision to keep males out of female sports and had promised to veto the bill ever since it was introduced.

Democrats didn't have the votes to stop the bill's passage in the Legislature, so they had to resort to the Governor to use his veto power.

He vetoed it while surrounded by Democratic lawmakers, transgender advocates, and other mentally ill people.

Evers said that boys need to be able to compete in female sports because the bill "harms LGBTQ Wisconsinites’ and kids’ mental health, emboldens anti-LGBTQ harassment, bullying, and violence, and threatens the safety and dignity of LGBTQ Wisconsinites, especially our LGBTQ kids."

What do you think?

Should boys be allowed to compete in female sports in high school for any reason?
