Valerie Bertinelli shares details of '3-Week Rule'

Actress Valerie Bertinelli currently lives in Los Angeles, but she doesn't let that stop her from making her long-distance relationship work with her East Coast boyfriend.

The secret, according to Valerie, is her "three-week rule."

"We never go longer than that without seeing each other," Bertinelli said. "After all, it’s about finding the joy in life and sharing it."

Valerie hasn't named her boyfriend, but did share a few details about their relationship:

"I thought he was interesting," she remembered. "It was strictly platonic, but there was something about him that I connected with that felt familiar. A comfort level. He felt like a kindred spirit."

The two kept in touch and it eventually grew into more.

"Every few months he would DM me," she said.

"We both had strong feelings, trying not to admit them," Bertinelli added.

She then realized that life is too short to not act on what would make them happy.

"We finally said, ‘Why are we doing this? It’s going to be challenging, because it’s long distance but why not?’ You only live once."
