Shooting breaks out at Chicago family gathering killing one, injuring ten

A family gathering celebrating a teenage girl’s confirmation turned into a nightmare when an unidentified individual opened fire, killing a 9-year-old girl and wounding ten others.

The girl, identified as Ariana Molina, was shot in the head and rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital but was pronounced dead soon after.

Both of Molina's parents were hit by the gunfire that killed their daughter. An unidentified family member told the media that the family was about to cut the cake when the gunfire started and sent everyone running.

In addition to Molina, a 1-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy, and a 9-year-old boy were all hit as well. The two younger boys are listed in critical condition, as they were hit multiple times.

The 9-year-old was thankfully only grazed in the finger and will make a quick recovery, although the trauma of this incident will take much longer to recover from.

Chicago Police suspect that the shooting was a gang-related incident and have multiple suspects that they are looking into. Hopefully, the animals who committed this horrific killing will be found quickly and never walk free again.
