Manchin could turn moderate Democrat voters and hand Trump the keys to the White House

 November 26, 2023

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) is exploring running for the White House against President Joe Biden, but it is likely that if he goes ahead with such a plan, he will end up peeling moderate Democrats away from Biden and handing Donald Trump victory next year.

Manchin would likely run as a third-party candidate, as the Democrat National Committee has refused to entertain the possibility of a true primary. However, that could lead to a third-party run splitting the Democrat vote.

The lawmaker appeared for an interview with Fox News' host Brett Baier on Special Report to quell such fears, saying, "I would never be a spoiler for anybody, and I don't agree with . . . the analysis that they've come up with."

Manchin further refuted any allegations that he was working to get Trump elected by saying, "I believe that Donald Trump being elected again would destroy democracy as we know it."

However, this comes after Manchin announced that he would not be running for reelection to the Senate in 2024, which further reinforces Democrat fears of him running for president.

Biden and his campaign need to be worried about Manchin stealing moderate votes, as 2024 is shaping up to be an incredibly close election barring something big happening in the next 11 months.
