Biden campaign trying to scare voters with Jan. 6 talking points

 April 17, 2024

Politics and allegiances aside, there's no hiding the fact that President Joe Biden isn't doing anywhere nearly as good in the polls as his party would expect him to be at this point.

His campaign has seen a number of fumbles, and no matter what message they try to push, it's either outright false or falls flat with a vast majority of working-class Americans.

But the crazy thing is that they can't seem to learn from their mistakes, as the Biden campaign, according to CBS News, is attempting to persuade Americans that Jan. 6 is still an issue worth considering, even though it's not, and nobody really cares anymore.

They're tying it into their "Democracy is under attack" line that they're attempting to use to scare voters into believing that if former President Donald Trump is elected, democracy will simply crumble.

During a recent stop in Wisconsin, Vice President Kamala Harris' aides passed out poster boards and asked voters to write down why they support President Biden in 2024.

Democratic voter Frank Pohlkamp, on his board, wrote "because Democracy matters."

"There was quite a bit of planning [from Trump's side] that went into the idea of the transfer of power," Pohlkamp said of Jan. 6. "That is concerning to me. The rule of law and democracy matters to the United States."

While there are always voters like Pohlkamp who somehow believe that democracy is "under attack" under Trump, most voters are looking at the issues that really matter, like their pocketbooks and the ability to keep the lights on, which has been extremely difficult under Biden's leadership.

Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin admitted that voters have pocketbook issues at the top of their list for the November election, though she had to slip in a "democracy is in danger" talking point, too.

"Absolutely we have to focus on pocketbook issues," Baldwin said. "But if you don't have your democracy, those may pale in comparison at some point in the future."

Other Democrats take the same approach, tying in the Jan. 6 democracy drivel with kitchen table issues.

But at the end of the day, voters, especially in minority communities who have been flocking toward President Trump's side, just want to be relatively financially secure again like they were under the previous administration.

Trump and his campaign understand that and are pushing the message that under his presidency, gas, groceries, and power bills will be affordable again.

Biden's record-high inflation has essentially killed his chances in 2024, and his campaign knows it. All they can do now is attempt to scare the voting public -- those who will fall for it -- into voting for Biden.
