Speaker Mike Johnson's future already on the line

 April 6, 2024

Things didn't go well for Republican Kevin McCarthy of California when he became America's speaker of the House.

He was ousted after just a few months.

Now, could his replacement, Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana, be about to suffer the same fate?

A number of GOP members in the House of Representatives have already sent STERN warnings to Johnson, including Reps. Warren Davidson and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Greene has already launched a threat to Mike Johnson's job with a motion to vacate, and Davidson seems to think that she's not crazy for doing it.

"Her statement for quite a long time now is don't bring a giant supplemental bill to fund Ukraine, or I will move to vacate," Davidson recently said about Greene's threat.

Apparently, Mike Johnson seems ready to ignore Marjorie Taylor Greene's warnings, and Davidson thinks that could spell bad news for the Speaker of the House.

"I believe she will, and I think if the speaker brings some giant supplemental bill to fund a whole bunch of other stuff and not defend America, the speaker will have a lot of problems," Davidson added. "I think there'll be people that will join [the motion to vacate] from the Republican conference, and probably more than eight."
