The Clemson Tigers sports family and fans were shocked and saddened to learn of the loss of a former baseball player.

According to Fox News, Reed Rohlman, a former outfielder for the Clemson Tigers baseball team, died Wednesday in Florida, reports indicated.

The former standout player was only 29.

Rohlman played for the team from 2014 to 2017 and was a two-time All-American player. He racked up impressive stats during his time there, batting .329 and racking up 11 homeruns.

Fox News noted:

Rohlman was the second Clemson freshman in history to earn All-America honors in 2015. He was a second-team All-American in 2016 and helped the Tigers to the ACC championship.

His skills were sharp enough to get a look from the big leagues, as he was eventually drafted in the 35th round of the MLB Draft in 2017 to the Kansas City Royals. The organization kept him in the minor leagues for three years.

According to local media outlets, Rohlman died as a result of a car crash in Hobe Sound, Florida.

"It’s so sad for the Clemson baseball family and all who knew him," Rohlman’s former coach at Clemson, Jack Leggett, told a local media outlet. "He was a very good player and even more of a good person. He always had a smile on his face and was a great teammate.

Clemson baseball released a statement on social media offering its condolences to Rohlman's family and friends.

"The Clemson family mourns the passing of former Tiger All-American Reed Rohlman. Our hearts go out to the Rohlman family," the team wrote

Former pro baseball player Kevin Burrell wrote, "Such a kind young man! I encourage every aspiring Baseball player or MLB prospect..to live your life with the end in mind. Leave a legacy that will long out live you. Death is no respecter of person or age. Today, the day before Easter, please pray for the family of Reed Rohlman."

Raising Royals, the official player development organization for the MLB team, also released a heartwarming statement.

"The Royals organization’s hearts are heavy with the news of Reed Rohlman’s passing. Reed was a tremendous player and teammate with a flair for the dramatic. We send our deepfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all that were lucky enough to know him," the organization wrote
