Clint Eastwood, a legendary actor and director known for his toughness and hard outer shell, was recently spotted at an event, marking a rare occasion that he was seen out in public.

According to the Daily Mail, Eastwood, soon to turn 94, was seen at "a speaking event hosted by renowned conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall."

Goodall's event took place in Carmel-by-the-Sea, the director's California hometown.

The event, called "Reasons for Hope," was held at the local Sunset Cultural Center. Eastwood didn't attempt to hide, as he reportedly sat front-and-center during the event.

Observers noted that Eastwood appeared "frail," but "spirited" during the rare public spotting.

The Daily Mail noted:

At 93 years old, the film icon - dressed in blue checkered flannel shirt, gray slacks, and sneakers - appeared advanced in age but still in high spirits, footage obtained by DailyMail.com shows.

Eastwood, whose bushy white beard and hair were in full display, was accompanied by an assistant, but was sprightly enough to get up on stage on his own.

The Hollywood icon was seen chatting with Goodall about an hour before the event kicked off. The event was presented by the Wildlife Conservation Network as part of Goodall's birthday tour.

"Shared lessons from living with apes and her passion for protecting the planet. Talking with Jane here is a very disheveled Clint Eastwood," Fred Greenstein wrote in a LinkedIn post.

While Eastwood might look like his age, it certainly hasn't stopped him from continuing his unmatched skill at directing and producing some of the best films around. He's currently working on a film called "Juror Number 2," which stars Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.

Eastwood was last photographed in public on the set of the movie and was said to be "all smiles" while shooting scenes. The movie is expected to be the last of his directing career.

The actor's personal life has been described as "colorful," given his numerous marriages, alleged affairs, and large volume of children.

PageSix noted:

After stepping back from the public eye, the Oscar winner has been spending most of his free time alongside his family as his decades-long career comes to a close.

Eastwood is a father to eight children from six different women and he also has several grandchildren to look after.

Social media users praised Eastwood for getting out there, despite his appearance and age-related limitations.
