Bodycam shows man opening fire on cops

 April 10, 2024

It started as a routine traffic stop in Chicago.

It ended as one of the most intense and deadly pieces of bodycam footage I've ever seen.

Dexter Reed, age 26, was killed following a traffic stop when police pulled him over for allegedly failing to wear a seatbelt.

Footage shows officers approaching Reed's SUV with their weapons drawn and ordering him to roll down his window.

Reed refused at first, and then several gunshots could be heard.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability indicated that Dexter Reed fired first and injured one officer. However, dailymail.co.uk said that "this is not clear from the footage."

After the incident, a gun was recovered from the passenger side of the vehicle and an investigation is now underway.

"I really can´t explain the pain that me and my family is going through, but I just hope there are people out there who understand he was a son, he was a brother, he was an uncle, he had loved ones," Reed´s sister, Porscha Banks, told reporters. "He was somebody very important."
