Trump makes surprise choice by endorsing Nancy Mace's re-election bid

 March 10, 2024

Former President Donald Trump made a surprise move Saturday afternoon by endorsing Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) for re-election, someone rumored to be seeking a VP nod, even though the congresswoman took aim at him for his actions after the Jan. 6, 2021, protest at the Capitol.

Mace is seeking a return to South Carolina's 1st Congressional District seat, and many believed that she would be on her own after saying Trump needed to be held "accountable" for the demonstrations for which Democrats ended up impeaching Trump.

The former president has previously signaled that Republicans who bought the Democrat narrative around the protest would not be welcome in his camp. However, that doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to Mace.

Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday saying, "It is my great honor to Endorse a Strong Conservative Voice for South Carolina's 1st Congressional District. Nancy Mace worked hard campaigning across South Carolina in support of our Record-Breaking WIN. In Congress, she is fighting to Secure the Border, Strengthen our Military, Support our Veterans, Uphold the Rule of Law, Stop Political Weaponization, and Protect and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment. Congresswoman Nancy Mace has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

Apparently, Mace did enough legwork for Trump's campaign in South Carolina to make him forget her transgressions from years back.

Nonetheless, this endorsement might be concerning to some supporters who are hoping to see Trump avoid entangling himself with untrustworthy underlings. His first term was undermined consistently by his supposed allies.
