Trump ahead in key swing states, new poll says

A new PRRI Research/Ipsos survey found that while former President Donald Trump only has a slight lead on President Joe Biden nationally, Trump is "crushing" Biden in key battleground states.

Nationally, the race stands at 48% Trump, 46% Biden in the poll.

Looking at battleground states that often swing from Democrat to Republican, however, Trump has a more significant lead that is beyond the poll's margin of error.

Looking at only results from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, however, Trump leads Biden 49% to 43%.

A Morning Consult poll showed Trump leading Biden in five key swing states looked at individually as well, although several of those are within the poll's margin of error.

Much could still happen between now and nomination time for Trump, but if he stays where he has been in the polls for months -- way ahead of all rivals -- he is expected to easily get it.
