'Rust' armorer convicted of manslaughter in fatal movie set shooting

 March 7, 2024

Alec Baldwin is surely watching and worrying.

A manslaughter conviction has been obtained as a result of the fatal shooting on the set of the film Rust.

Baldwin was holding the gun when the fatal shot that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was released, and the film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, will now receive a prison sentence of up to eighteen months for her role in what occurred.

Baldwin isn't out of the woods yet, as he still faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter and is scheduled to stand trial in July.

It is not in dispute that Baldwin had the gun when it went off and killed Hutchins.

However, he has maintained that the death was not his fault because he was told that there were no live rounds in the gun and there were not supposed to be live rounds anywhere on the set.

If he is telling the truth, the verdict in the armorer's case may have been music to his ears.

If he has been bending the truth, however, he's likely sweating now that real consequences are being handed down in the matter.

What do you think about this story?

Does Gutierrez-Reed deserve jail time?
