Up-and-coming rapper Sexyy Red said Tuesday that she misses former President Donald Trump and that "they support him in the hood," referencing his work on criminal justice reform and stimulus checks during COVID-19.

“I like Trump! Yeah, they support him in the hood," she said on Theo Vonn's This Past Weekend podcast.

The rapper said that at first people in her community considered him racist and sexist, but "once he start getting black people out of jail and giving people their free money…oh baby we love Trump. We need him back in office,” she said.

“I love Trump, though," she went on. "He funny to me. Like, I used to watch his interviews. Well, not interviews, like, him talking to people. He used to be calling people ‘fat.’ He’s just bold. He funny. Like, we need people like him."

Of course, there was an immediate backlash against her comments, but so far, she has not retracted them, apologized, or otherwise expressed regret over them.

People thought that a sex tape of Sexyy Red that was briefly leaked to social media was an attempt by her to cover up the comments, but she posted in a statement on Thursday: "I'm so heartbroken anybody that kno me knows I wouldn't do no goofy s*** like that."
