Fox News reported on Friday that after two private meetings with President Joe Biden six months apart, former President Barack Obama is worried that his successor will not be able to beat former President Donald Trump in a 2020 rematch in November.

During the first meeting with Biden in June 2023, Obama expressed that Biden needed to make the 2024 campaign a referendum on Trump and that he needed to be more aggressive, something it seems like he has been trying to do in recent months.

Six months later, though, Obama said he saw little improvement and met with Biden again, a report from anonymous sources in TIME stated.

He warned Biden that it would be harder to win in 2024 than it was in 2020, as Americans looked to blame Trump for COVID woes and there was less concern about Biden's age and cognitive ability.

"This time, Obama's message was more urgent. He expressed concern the re-election campaign was behind schedule in building out its field operations and bottlenecked by Biden's insistence on relying upon an insular group of advisers clustered in the West Wing, according to the same Democratic insider," TIME noted.

If Biden can't win the majority of swing states like he did in 2020, it would be an easy victory for Trump this time, Obama reportedly said.
