MTG impatient with Speaker Johnson over 'slow' impeachment

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) lashed out at Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) over the weekend due to his reluctance to fast-track impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden.

"Not long ago we had a Speaker that believed in impeachment so much that he launched an inquiry without a floor vote, but you were told he was bad,” Greene said in a post on X. “After 8 R’s and all D’s ousted him, we found checks to Joe Biden and evidence of a massive money laundering scheme and now the new guy you are told is way better doesn’t want to impeach. Such progress.”

Republicans have uncovered what many feel is convincing evidence that Biden took payouts from foreign sources in exchange for favors, which is the textbook definition of something for which impeachment should be used (bribery).

But a source said that in a private meeting, Johnson wasn't convinced there was enough evidence for an impeachment of Biden to be successful and that more investigation was needed.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said he was reluctant to hold more hearings at this time, although several Biden family members and other associates were subpoenaed last week for more information.

Biden is behind former President Donald Trump in recent polls of battleground states, while a generic, unnamed "Democrat candidate" would be eight points ahead of Trump.
