Jesse Watters blasts Kamala Harris for minimizing Democrat mayors' migrant concerns

 December 1, 2023

Fox News host Jesse Watters is known for making bold claims about many of today's most powerful politicians, and his recent remarks about Vice Kamala Harris were no different, in that he suggested this week that she effectively characterized a host of big city Democrat mayors as “liars.”

Watters' statement came during an episode of his popular 8 p.m. program in which he cast a critical eye on Harris' appearance at the recent New York Times DealBook Summit.

The vice president sat down for a Q & A session with Andrew Ross Sorkin, columnist as well as founder and editor at large of DealBook, and according to Watters, things did not go terribly well.

The Fox News host joked that the White House took Harris “out of hibernation” for her to attend the event, saying, “[t]hey yanked her away from her college tour after the Hamas attack.”

“I mean, you can't have Kamala out there talking to a bunch of college kids during the war. No way she's going to say the right thing,” Watters mused.

He continued, “But after all that prep time and rest, the VP still wasn't ready for the most obvious question about migrants of all time.”

Watters was referencing the exchange Harris had with Sorkin in which he brought up the dilemma of immigration and said, “It was handed to you as a big issue. Places like New York City didn't talk about needing...more work done at the border.”

Sorkin continued, “Today, we do. You're seeing it. You're seeing in in cities all across the country – not just red cities, blue cities.”

He then asked Harris, “Two questions. Are you doing enough? But the other question is: Do you think the federal government needs to be providing financial support to these municipalities that are having these issues?”

Harris replied, “The second question first, yes, and we are. Now let's get to the first point.”

Sorkin took issue with that response, saying, “But the states – the states and the mayor would say not enough and not really.”

The vice president retorted sharply, “We are. So, we can negotiate whether more is needed, and that is something that – in terms of this conversation, but more importantly, what is needed. And let's – you know, we can reevaluate that, but we are providing resources.”

Watters was incredulous about Harris' response, suggesting that it amounted to a denial of the complaints recently lodged by Democrat mayors such as New York City's Eric Adams, who has suggested that the migrant influx is poised to “destroy” the Big Apple.

“That's right,” Watters said. “Kamala just called every Democrat mayor a liar,” and whether that rather risky approach will prove effective with rank-and-file liberal voters in overrun municipalities come November 2024, only time will tell.
