'It's not my thing': Trump says he won't resign if convicted of a crime

Former President Donald Trump said that he wouldn't drop out of the 2024 presidential race even if he is convicted of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to two women who accused him of having affairs with them.

Trump characterized the indictment as an attempt to keep him out of the 2024 race and said it was "the old Soviet process" of getting rid of someone you don't want running.

Fox News' Tucker Carlson asked further, "If this goes to trial and you get convicted in the middle of a presidential campaign, how would you respond?”

Trump said, “It’s so off the statute of limitations, years off, it’s hard to believe. You know, usually when you have something like this, the Democrats say he’s terribly guilty. The Democrats have even said, I’m innocent.” Trump may have been referring to Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who said Trump would have a chance to "prove his innocence" in court.

“Is there anything they could throw at you legally that would convince you to drop out the race? If you get convicted in this case in New York, would you drop out?” Carlson asked.

Trump responded, “No, I’d never drop — it’s not my thing. I wouldn’t do it.”
