Boston Bruins star Milan Lucic's wife files for divorce following domestic violence situation

 April 24, 2024

The world of professional hockey and its fans were shocked to learn of a star player's nasty divorce update months after they were involved in an alleged domestic violence incident.

According to the New York Post, Milan Lucic, a player for the NHL's Boston Bruins, will soon be divorced by his wife, Brittany Lucic, who filed separation papers citing "irreconcilable differences."

Just five months prior to the separation filing, Milan was arrested for allegedly physically abusing his wife during an argument.

The NY Post noted:

The couple tied the knot on July, 19, 2012 and on the papers, according to the court records, Brittany listed their date of separation as Nov. 17, 2023, which is the day before Milan was arrested for allegedly physically abusing his wife during a fight.

The physical altercation reportedly occurred during an argument about the location of his phone. It was reported that Milan "put his hands on" Brittany and was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a family member.

The charges were later dropped after Brittany refused to testify against her husband. Following his arrest, the Bruins put Milan on an indefinite leave of absence.

"The organization takes these matters very seriously, and we will work with the Lucic family to provide any support and assistance they may need," the Boston Bruines said in a statement at the time of his arrest. "We will have no further comment at this time."

Head coach Jim Montgomery also released a statement at the time of the player's arrest.

"[Lucic] is taking a leave of absence from the team right now and we support the Lucic family, and we will continue to provide support and help for the Lucic family and out of respect for their privacy, that’s all I’m going to comment on the details right now," the coach said.

As far as the divorce terms, Brittany requested custody of their three children as well as spousal support. Their oldest is 11, while their youngest is 6.

She also requested that Milan be allowed to visit the children, but only under supervision, the court documents stated.

Milan was in his 17th season as a professional hockey player and is currently missing his team's playoff run as a result of his arrest.

It's unclear when the couple's divorce will be finalized.
