Homeless man goes on PA shooting rampage, kills 3 before captured by police in NJ

 March 17, 2024

A harrowing scenario unfolded Saturday, first in Pennsylvania and then in New Jersey, when a homeless man murdered three relatives before fleeing and barricading himself in a nearby home with a number of hostages, as the New York Post reported.

The suspect, Andre Gordon, was subsequently taken into custody by law enforcement, but not before carrying out a tragically deadly rampage.

According to the Post, Gordon commandeered a stolen vehicle and drove it to Bucks County, Pennsylvania on Saturday morning.

Then, he forcibly entered a home where he fatally shot his stepmother as well as his 13-year-old sister.

Armed with an AR-15-style assault weapon, Gordon moved onto a second residence, shooting and killing a woman with whom he shares two kids.

Amid reports of multiple shootings, Middletown Township Police Department officials announced a shelter-in-place order while a manhunt was initiated, as The Hill noted.

After killing the mother of his two children, Gordon reportedly carjacked a random bystander at a Dollar General store and ultimately made his way to Trenton, New Jersey.

Authorities were able to evacuate individuals who had been taken hostage in the home, and none of those individuals suffered injuries during the incident.

Dramatic video emerged of SWAT officers assisting hostages in their escape from the home via ladders.

The tense standoff came to a conclusion around 5 p.m. Saturday evening, when Gordon was successfully taken into custody by police.

Interestingly, no information has been released about a possible motive in the case, and while authorities were said to have “minor” contacts with the suspect in the past, there was nothing to suggest an incident of this severity.

Notably, the Bucks County St. Patrick's Day Parade was called off due to the uncertainty of the situation Saturday morning, and a number of local businesses shut their doors for a period of time.

As Fox 29 noted, on Sunday, officials in New Jersey announced that a series of charges had been leveled against Gordon, and the counts include carjacking, unlawful possession of an assault firearm, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm without a serial number, unlawful possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines, possesion of hollow-point ammunition, and receiving stolen property.

Hopefully, as the legal process begins to play out, justice will be served for the friends and loved ones of those killed in this horrible tragedy.
