Heir to Thailand's throne could be disqualified from crown for marrying American woman

Vacharaesorn Vivacharawongse, the heir to Thailand's monarchy, could be barred from ascending to the throne because of his marriage to an American woman.

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn disowned and exiled Vivacharawongse and his three brothers, but a return may now be possible.

Vivacharawongse is married to Elisa Garafano with whom he has two children, but he is apparently claiming that the pair split in a bid to compete for the throne.

A anonymous individual told the Daily Beast that, "Vach is still married to Elisa and they do still live together, but he very much wants to keep that fact, and the fact of their children, secret because of the impact it would have on his ambition to win the throne."

Meanwhile Elisa has reportedly denied that the two are divorced, and she wants to be recognized alongside her children.

Maha Vajiralongkorn has ruled since 2016 when his father passed away and is 71 years old. This means that Vivacharawongse is very much planning for the future and the possibility of becoming the next King of Thailand, but he will have to sort out his domestic issues first.
