Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity said on Wednesday that he will back Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to replace former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

McCarthy was ousted by eight Republicans and all House Democrats on Tuesday after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) made a motion to vacate the chair.

Hannity lamented that Gaetz's vendetta against McCarthy was "personal" rather than "business."

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), who is also running for speaker, was praised by Hannity, but ultimately the fact that Scalise is going through cancer treatment swayed Hannity away from supporting him.

"I like Steve Scalise. I think he’s a great leader. I think he’s a really good guy. He’s a patriot,” Hannity said.

"I want his health to be put first. I really mean that when I say that. I don’t think he should be changing his position at this time," Hannity said of Scalise.
