George Santos drops independent House bid

It was never going to work, so George Santos decided to spare himself the embarrassment.

Disgraced former Congressman Santos announced on April 23 that he was suspending his independent bid for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Reports indicated that Santos was having trouble fundraising.

The announcement came just over a month after Santos had entered the race.

"I have [met] with leaders and with constituents and I have made the decision to hang it up here and stop [pursuing] this race, THIS YEAR!" Santos said on social media. "Staying in this race all but guarantees a victory for the Dems in the race."

Santos may be dumb enough to have gotten thrown out of Congress, but at least he's smart enough not to continue trying to get back in.
