Florida couple arrested after attempting to kidnap 7-month-old baby

A couple from Florida has been arrested after traveling to Washington, a 45-hour trip, where they allegedly abducted a woman's infant daughter while posing as Amazon delivery drivers.

Chun Ho Vincent Lai, and his wife, Marlly Jarina Ardila-Urrego, traveled to Washington and entered the home of the mother who has been identified as a cousin of Ardila-Urrego.

Lai restrained the mother and beat her, before taking the baby, as well as two cell phones and a tablet according to a statement from the police.

The couple initially escaped but were pulled over four hours after the attack, and the baby was recovered unharmed.

There is still no motive for the crime, and by all accounts, this story is bizarre in the extreme. The attackers knew the victim, but little is known about why they chose to cross the entire continent to attack her and abduct her child.

The couple has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery and burglary, as well as second-degree assault of a child for allegedly harming the 2-year-old. If those charges stick, both could spend a very long time in prison.
