Donald Trump pushes for Lara Trump to co-chair RNC: Report

 February 17, 2024

Former President Donald Trump, who has all but formally cemented his title as the Republican presidential nominee, is already making plans for the future of the party.

According to Fox News, the former president has made it clear that he wants his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to co-chair the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Lara Trump is the wife of Donald Trump's second-oldest son, Eric Trump, and she has long been an active surrogate for her father-in-law, especially in the media spotlight.

She wasn't shy about announcing how she would run the RNC should she secure the spot, saying she'd spend "every single penny" to ensure that her father-in-law is elected in November.

Lara Trump also emphasized that the powerful party organization will no longer waste funds on anything other than election-related expenses that will deliver results for the party.

"The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history," Lara Trump told Newsmax. "That is the goal over the next nine-and-a-half months. If I am elected to this position, I can assure you, there will not be any more $70,000 – or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was – spent on flowers."

She added, "Every single penny will go to the No. 1 and the only job of the RNC – that is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country."

The former president sang his daughter-in-law's praises last week.

"Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for," the former president said. "She has told me she wants to accept this challenge and would be GREAT!"

President Trump's push for Lara Trump to co-chair the RNC didn't come without heavy criticism from his critics and opponents, with many claiming he would use the RNC to bankroll his legal fees.

"Lara Trump has zero experience to be RNC Co-Chair. But, it's all a Trump take over of the RNC. If you thought it was bad under Ronna, wait until the RNC becomes Trump’s piggy bank paying for lawyers and wasting money on losing candidates endorsed by Trump," one X user wrote

Another X user wrote, "The RNC is officially the piggy bank of the Trump family. And who better to lead than Lara Trump."

In contrast, President Trump's supporters were overwhelmingly in favor of installing Lara Trump at the RNC, knowing she'll work overtime to ensure that the party does everything it can to help him beat President Joe Biden in November.
