James Biden has claimed that 2018 $200K direct payment to President Joe Biden that Republicans thought was a smoking gun proving illegal activity was actually a loan repayment, and now the House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) wants proof.

Comer flagged the payment as suspicious because it went through Americore, then a distressed business that loaned the Biden brother $600,000.

The same day Americore paid James Biden $200,000, he paid his brother the same amount. James denied that the payment was part of a "business arrangement" between the brothers.

Comer now wants to see IRS filings and loan documents related to the payment.

In a letter to White House Counsel Edward Siskel, Comer said, "The current lack of documentation leaves reason to doubt claims that this transaction was repayment for a legal loan. We request documentation clarifying the nature of this payment and whether all applicable documentation and IRS filings were properly made."

Comer also noted that the loan was too large to escape IRS reporting and that no records show any interest was charged.
