A cement truck driver admitted to consuming cocaine and marijuana before he crashed into a school bus full of preschoolers in Texas on March 22, killing one of them and another driver involved in the accident.

Jerry Hernandez crossed the median and hit the side of the bus, causing it to roll over. He admitted that he only slept three hours the night before, as well as to the drug use.

He claimed that he was swerving to hit a broken-down car in his lane, but dashcam footage showed that no such car was there.

Hernandez was arrested Friday and charged with criminally negligent homicide because of the crash.

He could be sentenced to two years in prison and fined up to $10,000.

Besides those killed, four people had to be airlifted to the hospital in critical condition and six others had serious injuries. The bus did not have seat belts.
