Alex Murdaugh Found Guilty

 March 3, 2023

Following a six-week trial that attracted plenty of national attention, Alex Murdaugh has been found guilty by a jury of murdering his wife and son.

The jury reportedly needed less than three hours to debate Murdaugh's involvement in any potential crime.

A whopping 76 witnesses testified during the six-week trial, which also contained an audio recording of Murdaugh's 911 call.

The Murdaughs are from a famous South Carolina legal family, but not usually as defendants. From 1920 to 2006, three members of the family consecutively served as district attorney, responsible for prosecuting all criminal cases in South Carolina's 14th circuit district.

However, since 2014, Richard "Alex" Murdaugh started getting some attention for some much less scrupulous acts. Things like suspected murders, corruption, insurance fraud, theft of insurance payouts, and other drug-related charges.

It is suspected that Alex's motive for the murders was to try to draw attention away from all of his other legal problems.

In for a penny, in for a pound as they say.

It's pretty clear the only thing he did by murdering his wife and son was make everything WAY worse.
