Twenty more people were shot, one fatally, in Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson's Chicago over the weekend.

Chicago has one of the highest homicide rates in the country, even though it also has some of the strictest gun control laws.

The weekend's one fatality was a 28-year-old who had multiple gunshot wounds and died in a nearby hospital on Sunday morning.

A victim in a different incident, a 13-year-old boy, was in critical condition after being shot early Sunday morning while riding in an SUV.

567 people were killed so far this year in Chicago.

The city, like all of Illinois, is under a red flag law, a 72-hour waiting period on gun purchases, a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card requirement for legal gun ownership, and a ban on “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines.
