A set of identical twins is accused of switching places after one of them crashed into an Amish buggy in rural Minnesota, killing two children and wounding two others, who had to be hospitalized.

When police initially responded to the scene, Sarah Beth Peterson claimed that she was behind the wheel of the car that hit the buggy, but recordings taken at the scene and a text message said that her sister Samantha Jo Peterson was the one driving.

The switch happened because Samantha was high when she hit the buggy, and her sister owed her a favor for taking care of her kids while she was recently in jail herself. Now, they are both likely going to jail.

Police found marijuana and methamphetamine in the car when they searched it.

Samantha now faces 22 charges in connection with the incident, while Sarah faces 16 charges, including aiding and abetting.

The girls were confident that no one would be able to tell the difference between them, but when a police recorder captured one of them saying that, their plot quickly unraveled.
