Trump subpoena of Stormy Daniels documentary data denied by judge in hush money case

Judge Juan Merchan on Friday blocked lawyers for former President Donald Trump from subpoenaing the records and notes for a documentary on Stormy Daniels at NBC, calling it a "fishing expedition."

The NBC Universal subpoena was “the very definition of a fishing expedition” and didn't meet the burden for requiring the network to turn over privileged information, Merchan said.

The trial is scheduled to start April 15.

It's considered a fairly weak case but the location--Manhattan--portends bias on the part of the court and jurors.

On Wednesday, Marchan ruled against delaying the trial until the Supreme Court rules on whether Trump has immunity from prosecution because he was president when he allegedly made the payments to his former lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump lawyers also have several other pending motions to delay the trial.
