Trump celebrates Supreme Court ballot ruling as 'win for America'

Former President Donald Trump celebrated on Monday as the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that Colorado cannot ban him from its ballot, calling the ruling a "BIG WIN FOR AMERICA!" on his Truth Social platform.

The decision will also apply to other states trying to remove him from their ballots, given that the court said the 14th Amendment could not be used to remove a presidential (or any federal) candidate from a ballot without congressional approval.

The current Congress is divided and would almost certainly never make a decision to remove Trump from the ballot.

The ruling came one day before Super Tuesday, when 15 states hold primaries, and less than a month after oral arguments were heard.

Maine and Illinois also ruled to bar Trump from their ballots but paused those rulings pending the Supreme Court decision.

Maine's secretary of state Shenna Bellows has already withdrawn her order to bar Trump, citing the Supreme Court decision.
