Ted Cruz reveals Mitch McConnell may not run for re-election

 February 19, 2024

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) says that Mitch McConnell's decision to run for another term in the Senate rests on the outcome of the 2024 presidential election in November.

During an interview with Sunday Morning Futures, Cruz was asked about McConnell's future, and he replied saying, “I don’t know. That’s a decision for Mitch to make. Obviously, there’s a lot of bad blood between Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump. Mitch will have to make that decision."

It seems that if Trump wins the election in November, McConnell may head for the exits and finally retire long after he should have.

However, Cruz quickly shifted the conversation by saying, "What I want to see is, I want to see Republicans in the Senate stand and lead and fight. I believe November is going to be a very good election. I think we’re going to see Donald Trump reelected as president of the United States."

It sounds like Cruz believes in Trump's chances of winning, and that means McConnell and his untrustworthy antics will be gone.

McConnell has been one of the most treacherous Republican senators in recent history, and his backroom deals with Democrats have done untold damage to the conservative movement.
