Southwest flight attendant, passenger injured during severe turbulence

 April 4, 2024

Two people were injured when a Southwest Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence on April 3.

Things on the flight were so bad that the plane had to make an emergency landing in Tampa after one flight attendant and one passenger were hurt mid-air.

Flight 4273 was heading from New Orleans to Orlando when the captain declared an emergency after experiencing turbulence aboard the Boeing 737 jet.

"The Captain declared an emergency, a requirement to deviate from a filed flight plan, and also requested that paramedics be available when the aircraft arrived to assess any potential injury," Southwest airlines said in a statement.

The passenger and flight attendant were quickly transported to a Tampa area medical facility.

The Federal Aviation Administration is reportedly already investigating the incident.

The turbulence may have been caused by storms that brought severe weather from the Ohio Valley to the deep south on April 2.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in this scenario.
