Schumer to hold Senate vote on 'assault weapons' ban

 December 6, 2023

Democrats continue to push the false narrative that banning "assault weapons" will lower gun violence in the United States when actually all it does is prohibit law-abiding citizens from exercising their Second Amendment rights.

The anti-gun party won't admit that a vast majority of gun violence is not only perpetrated by criminals who don't care about gun laws, but that it also happens primarily in gun-controlled, Democrat-led cities.

Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer from pandering to his party base with a proposed national "assault weapons" ban.

According to Breitbart, he's bringing such a law to a Senate vote as soon as next week.

"This week, I will put the Assault Weapons Ban on the Senate floor. After I led the passage of the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban 30 years ago, America saw a decrease in mass shootings and gun deaths. We must stand with the American people and against the gun lobby," Schumer wrote in an X post.

Schumer, the current White House administration and other Democrats have repeatedly spread false information regarding gun violence and "assault weapons."

Breitbart dismantled each and every talking point related to their false narrative.

He noted that Democrats “stand with the American people” by standing for the proposed gun controls. However, just two weeks ago — on November 21, 2023 — Breitbart News pointed to an NBC News poll that found American gun ownership hit its highest level ever in poll history. Over half of Americans said they or someone in their home owns a gun.

Breitbart added:

For example, on June 19, 2023, Breitbart News noted that White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the ban lowered gun violence. We found her claim to be false as the Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) issued a report, noting that any impact the ban had on crime was negligible.

Social media users reacted to Schumer's announcement and, for the most part, torched him.

"Well, that's not factual. And you didn't "Lead" the passing of thge Brady Bill - not to mention it was useless law," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "I thought Biden "fought the NRA" and single handedly passed the Clinton ban. Now you're claiming you did. Either way, you goons did nothing other than increase gun sales which I applaud you for. This has no chance, and you know it. It's all for show. Have fun losing. Again."

Even if the bill passes the Senate, it will ultimately die in the Republican-led House. Thankfully.
