Mass chaos breaks out at Georgia Six Flags on opening day, as shootout with police ensues

 March 4, 2024

What should have been a fun and exciting opening day at Six Flags Over Georgia turned into a total nightmare for families as gun-toting thugs entered a shootout with police.

According to the Daily Mail, opening day at the Austell-based theme park turned violent as fights broke out across the grounds of the park, with a group of men "kicking one person to the ground."

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported chaos and panic at the scene and noted that some 600 people were running through the park and fighting as a gun battle eventually broke out.

TheMail noted:

An 'unknown number' of suspects fired shots at cops as the Cobb County officers rushed people out of the park onto South Service Road, FOX5 reported.

Police returned fire and were able to hit one of the armed suspects involved in the violent and dangerous scene.

Footage of the mass chaos at the theme park immediately went viral across social media, with video clips of teens and adults running through the park and fighting, with a helicopter flying overhead.

The Mail added:

Park employees tried to usher the mobs out of the park as more screaming broke out. One boy is seen to be getting put in handcuffs and arrested by two officers amidst the chaos, although it's unclear what exactly he is being arrested for.

A visitor of the park at the time of the gunfire said, 'Six Flags Over Georgia is NOT safe.'

Social media users reacted to the news, with many commenting that they weren't surprised given the spike in crime under Democratic leadership in the Atlanta area.

"Let’s be honest, is anyone surprised that this happened in Atlanta? The city has been ravaged by crime for decades and it’s only getting worse with illegals flooding in. So any area open to the public will become a hotbed for bad intentions. Six Flags should’ve known better," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Why did people feel they needed to be armed to go to an amusement park? Seems maybe certain people were looking for trouble in the first place."

Six Flags released a statement after the violent event.

"It is incredibly disappointing that our community is disrupted at public events throughout the region by groups of underaged youth," the theme park said.

The same park has had similar opening day incidents in the past. Many suggested that they beef up security on such days, knowing the likelihood of potential violence breaking out.
