Kyrsten Sinema NOT Running For Reelection In Arizona

 March 6, 2024

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, now an Independent after liberals bullied her out of the Democrat Party, will NOT be running for reelection in 2024.

Despite the Democrats having treated Sinema so brutally in the past, she really is doing them a massive favor here.

That's because in a three-way race, Sinema was always going to take more votes from the Democrat than she did the Republican, so this gives Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego a better chance to win Sinema's open seat against Republican Kari Lake.

TheHill summarized the problem Sinema may have caused Republicans:

"Sinema’s decision will also provide Democrats with a sign of relief. Another run by the independent would have left Senate Democrats in a bind over whether to back Sinema, who is no longer a Democrat but still caucuses with the party and has an incumbency advantage, or to back Gallego. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said in a statement shortly after Sinema’s announcement that Democrats are 'fully behind [Gallego’s] candidacy,'" the outlet explained.

Gallego released a statement thanking Sinema for "her nearly two decades of service to our state." He said:

Arizona, we are at a crossroads. Protecting abortion access, tackling housing affordability, securing our water supply, defending our democracy — all of this and more is on the line. It’s time Democrats, Independents, and Republicans come together and reject Kari Lake and her dangerous positions.
