Kamala Harris trying to help Biden campaign by going around it

CNN reported Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris has been making efforts to bolster President Joe Biden's (and her) re-election campaign outside the normal channels of the campaign in recent weeks -- but not behind its back.

Harris has been hosting dinners at her residence, talking to key Democrats who have felt brushed off by the Biden campaign, and discussing strategies for improving the campaign, which has been plagued with low polling numbers and approval ratings.

“The ‘bedwetting’ complaints are running thin with people,” said a person who attended one of the meetings, describing the general state of anxiety circulating in top Democratic circles. “The West Wing and the campaign need to be better.”

She has not been going behind the campaign's back -- an aide from the campaign has been present for all of her meetings and sessions.

An added plus to her efforts is that they have increased her profile in the eyes of some key players when she had previously been viewed as another weak link rather than a campaign asset.

Of course, Democrats need to be able to see Harris as capable in order to vote for Biden with a clear conscience, because clearly, he will not be able to serve out a full second term the way things are going. Given that it comes from CNN, this report could just be wishful thinking or a propaganda effort to improve the way people view the vice president.
