Biden omits any reference to God on transcript of Thanksgiving address

President Joe Biden omitted any reference to God in his Thanksgiving address, representing a radical departure from tradition.

Since Abraham Lincoln declared that Thanksgiving would be a national holiday in 1863 at the height of the Civil War, there has always been a reference to God and the blessings that America enjoyed even in times of crisis.

In Lincoln's first address, he stated "No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy."

Lincoln also noted that Americans must always be wary that they not grown complacent as America's blessings "are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come."

That warning feels incredibly appropriate at this point when the sitting president of the United States fails to mention God even once.

Biden's omission of God from the speech was mirrored by his old boss, former President Barack Obama who also threw God out of the Thanksgiving address.
