Independent Jill Stein declared her candidacy for the presidency for a third time on Thursday, saying the two-party political system is "broken" and that she wants to offer a "better choice."

"We'll put a pro-worker, anti-war, climate emergency agenda front and center in this election and on the ballot in November," she said.

As a Green Party candidate in 2016, Stein got some of the blame for Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton.

"There were more than enough Stein voters to swing the result, just like Ralph Nader did in Florida and New Hampshire in 2000," Clinton wrote in her book What Happened.

Stein had previously served as campaign manager for Cornel West, who is still in the race and polling at about 1%.

If Stein gains even the same size following that she had in 2016, she could very well help to unseat President Joe Biden, although he seems to be doing a pretty good job of that himself these days.
