House Speaker Mike Johnson Must Confront GOP Sabotage

 February 24, 2024

This is nothing new.

Kevin McCarthy experienced it first, and now House Speaker Mike Johnson is going through it.

Leading the U.S. House of Representatives is a VERY tough job.

For the Republicans who have been assigned the task recently, it's been made even more difficult by the fact that the GOP can't even get its own party members all moving in the same direction.

It was Republicans who ousted McCarthy from the position, and now it's Republicans who are perhaps the most significant problem Mike Johnson is facing right now.

With all of the Republicans that we have in Congress, it would be nice if we were able to get some conservative ideas taking hold in this country.

Instead of actually executing any policy, though, Republicans in Congress have just been busy arguing with each other.

"Over 100 days in, we’ve yet to fulfill and execute policy," aid Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry, who briefly served as a speaker in 2023 after Republicans booted McCarthy.

If Johnson doesn't get things turned around soon, he could very well end up as Kevin McCarthy 2.0.
