Government Worker From Maryland Charged With Espionage

 September 23, 2023

A Maryland man who had been working as a contractor for both the State Department and Justice Department is reportedly facing an espionage charge after allegedly using his "top secret" clearance to funnel sensitive information to a foreign intelligence official.

Abraham Lemma, a 50-year-old naturalized American citizen of Ethiopian descent living in Maryland, has officially been charged for his actions while working as a State Department IT administrator and management analyst for the Justice Department.

"In these communications, Lemma expressed an interest and willingness to assist the foreign official in providing information," the Justice Department reported:

In one communication, the foreign official stated, ‘it’s time to continue ur support.' Lemma responded, ‘Roger that!’

Lemma is being accused of using an encrypted app to send classified national defense information to a foreign official.

You don't have to be a military expert to understand that this probably isn't the type of information America wants being spread across the globe.
