Elected Oklahoma white nationalist to face recall
Enid, Oklahoma voters put Judd Blevins in office as a city commissioner without knowing he had ties to neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups.
Blevins, a veteran who served in Iraq, represented himself as a man of God with traditional values and unseated the Republican incumbent in the race.
He won by 36 votes in a race that only got 808--less than 15% of the eligible population.
After the fact, his ties to white nationalism were discovered to be factual--he was an active leader in major alt-right group Identity Evropa from at least 2017 to 2019. The group actively pushes white superiority and recruits members from conservativism.
A debate ensued in the town about how to handle Blevins' white supremacist leanings--and him.
On April 2, voters will get a chance to weigh in on Blevins in a recall election.
