Cop Who Killed Graduate Student Dodges Criminal Charges

 March 5, 2024

A Seattle cop is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

We love it when our boys in blue are the hero, but this time they were among the villains.

Officer Kevin Dave of Seattle was responding to an emergency call at a speed of 74 MPH in a 25-MPH zone when he struck Indian graduate student Jaahnavi Kandula on Jan. 23, 2023.

Kandula had the right of way at the time she was struck and was thrown 138 feet.

Dave was the one who killed Kandula, but it was Officer Daniel Auderer who made headlines regarding the situation.

Auderer was the officer assigned to go see if his coworker had been impaired at the time the girl was killed. Daniel made some highly inappropriate comments when he thought he wasn't being recorded.

It was his own bodycam that caught him:

Auderer "was heard laughing and suggesting that Kandula’s life had “limited value” and saying the city should 'just write a check,'" according to the New York Post.

Usually cops are heroes. In this situation, they're anything but.
