Carville says Democrat insiders want him to stop talking about Biden's liabilities ahead of 2024

As news of President Joe Biden's declining poll numbers continues to emerge, one noted Democrat insider has come forward to suggest that party elites have warned him to stop talking about the situation as the 2024 election campaign progresses, as Fox News reports.

Carville's claims come in the wake of an interview he gave to The Atlantic about Biden's electoral prospects in which the longtime liberal strategist painted a less-than-optimistic view.

According to Carville, his assertion that Biden's current polling outlook is “not good” was not well-received by those on the left, who urged him to stay mum on the subject.

Carville maintains that their request for silence does not stem from a belief that he is incorrect, but rather from a simple unwillingness to admit the unpleasant truth.

“Nobody is saying, 'James, you're wrong,' Carville told the outlet. “They're saying, 'James, you can't say that.'”

Undeterred from calling things the way he sees them, however, Carville added, “I'm looking at the polling data, and I'm looking at all of it. The president's numbers are just not good – and they're not getting any better.”

A major contributor to what Carville seems to think are Biden's dimming chances for reelection is, as he put it, "this doctrine of strategic certainty” that prevails at the White House, something he believes will lead to disaster.

The Atlantic noted that Carville has been in discussions with Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), who last week announced that he would mount a primary challenge to Biden for the Democratic Party nomination.

Phillips has made no secret of his concerns about Biden's age and ability to competently serve another four years in the Oval Office.

Declaring his candidacy at an event in New Hampshire on Friday, Phillips stated, “It is time for the torch to be passed to a new generation of American leaders.”

Outlining his reasons for running, Phillips wrote on X, “I didn't set out to enter this race. But it looks like on our current course, the Democrats will lose and [Donald] Trump will be our president again.”

Speaking to CBS News, Phillips made it clear that he appreciates what Biden has accomplished during his tenure thus far, but he added that “it's not about the past. This is an election about the future. I will not sit still, I will not be quiet, when we're facing numbers that are so clearly saying that we'll be facing an emergency next November,” sentiments with which Carville clearly agrees.

Carville's position is one he has been expressing for some time, telling CNN back in early September that when it comes to Biden's poll numbers, “You can't look at this and not say that you're concerned.”

“For me to come on television and say I don't find this alarming or troubling at all would be stupid. I wouldn't do that,” Carville added, and he seems determined to force the powers that be in his party to stop burying their heads in the sand and come up with a concrete strategy before it is – at least for them – too late.
