Tyler Perry Halts $800M Studio Plans After Seeing OpenAI's Sora Model
Many people think that AI-generated entertainment could never truly overtake what actual human beings produce.
Tyler Perry is apparently hesitant to subscribe to that theory.
At least, that is, he's not willing to gamble $800 MILLION on it.
Perry had previously announced plans for an $800 MILLION studio expansion to support his growing media empire.
However, after recently seeing a demo of what AI was capable of creating in terms of video quality, Perry quickly realized that a lot of jobs in the entertainment production industry are likely going to be lost.
Who will want to spend a small fortune utilizing his production studio when the same work can be done simply by entering text on a screen?
"I had gotten word over the last year or so that this was coming, but I had no idea until I saw recently the demonstrations of what it’s able to do. It’s shocking to me," Perry said.
"I no longer would have to travel to locations. If I wanted to be in the snow in Colorado, it’s text," he continued. "If I wanted to write a scene on the moon, it’s text, and this AI can generate it like nothing."
Sounds like some entertainment jobs are already evaporating, starting with those involved in building an $800 million studio expansion.
