Trump case witness David Pecker swatted on day of testimony: Report

 May 7, 2024

Former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, one of the people who testified at Donald Trump's criminal trial, was targeted in a fake emergency on the same day that he took the stand in New York, according to police records.

Until Reuters did some digging and made the story public, the "swatting" incident that happened on April 25 had been previously unreported.

Apparently, somebody claiming to be named "Jamal" emailed a local newspaper and said that he had "tied up his wife in the basement and killed his wife's lover."

He then gave a supposed address for the crime, which turned out to be Pecker's home in Connecticut.

"I fucked up really bad," "Jamal" wrote. "Please help me."

Reuters requested records from the police department and noticed the official file noted that "A check ... revealed no emergency" and that "the email was likely a swatting by proxy attempt."

So far, there is no confirmation that any arrests have been made.
