The campaign, equal parts performative outrage and political spite, seized on the fact that Barron Trump may hold a medical exemption that would make him ineligible for military service.

There is no full-scale military draft. There is no legislation proposing one. None of that stopped the online mob from treating a teenager as a political prop.

What Actually Happened

Early Saturday, President Trump announced that the U.S. and Israel had conducted strikes against Iran after days of diplomatic discussions. The president stated the strikes were carried out:

The demand carries a familiar stench: the insistence that conservative leaders must sacrifice their own children to prove sincerity about national defense. It is a rhetorical trap designed not to support the troops but to undermine the commander in chief. Nobody running this hashtag is advocating for a stronger military posture. Nobody is calling for decisive action against Iran's nuclear program. They are simply wielding Barron Trump's name as a weapon against his father.

According to records obtained by the Times, Braunstein leased his office in Jamaica, Queens, from Fred Trump during the 1960s. Elysa Braunstein told the paper:

"It was family lore, something we would always discuss."

She added that she believed the diagnosis was a "small favor" that gave her father "access" to the elder Trump. In a 2016 interview with The Times, President Trump affirmed he never had surgery for the condition but acknowledged that a doctor "gave me a letter – a very strong letter – on the heels" to present to draft authorities. He said he couldn't recall the doctor's name.

This story has been public for the better part of a decade. It was litigated in the 2016 campaign, the 2020 campaign, and apparently every time the left needs a distraction from actual foreign policy. Recycling it now, during a live military engagement, reveals the priority: not supporting American forces in harm's way, but scoring points against a president they despise.

What the Left Reveals About Itself

Consider the contradiction. The same political movement that spent years opposing military intervention, protesting defense spending, and questioning American power projection is now demanding that a specific teenager be conscripted into a draft that does not exist. They don't want a strong military. They want a rhetorical bludgeon.

These are the same voices that:
