Radical St. Louis mayor proposes ban on 'military-style' firearms

You know it's getting bad when the deep red state of Missouri has to worry about radical woke elements in its city areas trampling on the rights of law-abiding citizens.

According to Breitbart, that's exactly what's unfolding in St. Louis, as its ultra-woke Democratic mayor announced her intentions to ban AR-15s and AK-47s within St. Louis' crime-filled city limits.

Surely, the bad guys committing the crimes will follow the upcoming ban.

Therein lies the problem -- Democrats refuse to acknowledge that banning guns of any type doesn't translate into reduced usage of those firearms in crimes, and typically only serves to strip away Second Amendment rights from the residents who aren't murderous thugs.

That didn't stop Mayor Tishaura O. Jones (D) from running the usual progressive, disinformation-filled talking points in her announcement regarding the proposed ban.

"We’re ready to fight like hell at the local level to prevent gun violence, protect our babies, and to keep our communities safe," Jones said, completely ignoring the fact that most of the crimes are committed by gangbangers who couldn't possibly care less about ordinances and laws.

Breitbart noted:

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that a bill containing the ban will soon come before the Board of Aldermen and will contain other gun controls as well.

Regulations on gun kits are some of the other controls expected in the bill.

Jones' announcement didn't come without intense pushback from Republican leaders in the state, including Attorney General Andrew Bailey (R), who vowed to fight the proposal using all available laws and resources.

Bailey said he will fight against "any effort to infringe on the right of the people of Missouri to keep and bear arms."

"I condemn these unconstitutional attacks on the right to bear arms in St. Louis City by the radical, leftist Mayor Tishaura Jones," said State senator and Republican gubernatorial hopeful Bill Eigel.

Eigel added, "Mayor Jones and the Democrat Party dynasty that has been in power for a generation in St. Louis City is proposing defunding and abandoning police, grabbing guns from lawful citizens, and making it a crime to have views that oppose her own."

Social media users responded to the news, mostly blasting the woke, anti-cop, "defend the police" mayor for her asinine approach to fighting the crime epidemic unfolding on her watch.

"That’s not going to get rid off the crime. It’s not like law abiding citizens are walking around with ak47s downtown," one X user wrote.
