Politico says the Democrat party is 'full of anxious people' as Biden turns 81

According to Politico Playbook -- a column that gets much of its information from anonymous inside sources -- Democrats are anxious about the state of their party as its leader, President Joe Biden, turns 81 and prepares to win the party's nomination for 2024.

“If you haven’t heard, the Democratic Party is full of anxious people right now,” Politico Playbook wrote on Sunday before listing a number of stories written in the mainstream media about Biden's age.

“Even those in Biden’s inner circle, including family members, worry about the optics of age,” Politico‘s Elena Schneider, Holly Otterbein, and Jonathan Lemire said. “Those close allies believe that Biden is mentally up for the job, but some acknowledge that the president can at times appear frail, according to two people involved in the conversations but not authorized to speak publicly about internal deliberations.”

Their latest strategy: more jokes about "Grandpa Joe" along with the suggestion that his age equals wisdom.

Polls show that people aren't buying it so far: GOP frontrunner Donald Trump leads Biden in most swing states in a rash of new polls, even as he battles four indictments and two major civil cases.

"Grandpa Joe" can have all the wisdom he wants, but if he can't fix the economy and close the border, then let's have someone who can. That's why Democrats are anxious, not just because the president is old.
