McCarthy says Biden's impeachment inquiry is moving 'even closer'

President Joe Biden's potential impeachment inquiry went under the radar for a few weeks, but it's back in the spotlight, and it's not looking good for the current president.

The Republican House-led impeachment inquiry into Biden, thanks to investigative efforts by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) received a high-profile boost this week.

According to Fox News, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) revealed during a recent Fox News interview that House Republicans have moved "closer" to taking the impeachment inquiry all the way, presumably hinting at a full House vote.

The progress and renewed interest in doing so has also been credited to newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

During a Sunday airing of Sunday Morning Futures, McCarthy held nothing back as he pointed out the meticulous investigation into Biden and his family's shady business dealings.

"No one in America would have known that President Biden has lied, that they did receive money from China…that he did get involved in the business dealings. When he went to Cafe Milano, his son got a new Porsche and $3 million was sent to him," McCarthy said.

He added, "We have systematically followed every place the facts have taken us each and every day. And now it's moved even closer because now we've got the subpoenas going in to get the bank statements."

"We found all of this, the shell companies no one knew about prior. This is important."

Just last week, Speaker Johnson issued a call for "key witnesses" to testify under oath in Biden's impeachment inquiry, according to an earlier Fox News report.

The official House Republicans X account wrote last week, "Accountability is here."

"At this stage, our impeachment inquiry has already shown the corrupt conduct of the president’s family and that he and White House officials have repeatedly lied about his knowledge and involvement in his family’s business activities," Johnson told Fox at the time.

He added, "It has also exposed the tens of millions of dollars from foreign adversaries being paid to shell companies controlled by the president’s son, brother and their business associates."

Johnson signaled that the process will move forward with his full support.
